Ruud Gullit lists Roma among Serie A title contenders

Andy Mattioli

Former Milan forward Ruud Gullit attended the renowned Festival dello Sport in Trento earlier in the week and was interview by La Gazzetta dello Sport about this year’s Serie A title race.

Gullit, like many others before him, was not able to pinpoint a heavy favorite to win the Scudetto. Among the various contenders, the Dutchman listed Roma as one of the underdog competitors.

“I think Napoli are showing what they’re capable of, and proving everyone they have to be taken seriously,” he told the Italian newspaper.

“Napoli are playing fantastic football at the moment. They’re very well organized, but they also allow individuals to express themselves freely on the pitch.”

“Milan are on a similar level. Juventus, meanwhile, are in a crisis and we’ll see whether they are capable of turning things around.”

Finally he concluded, “Inter can still grow as a team, but watch out for Roma and Atalanta, they can do well, too.”
