Sabatini: “It was only right to protect Garcia.”

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini spoke to SportMediaset today before the Champions League match of Manchester City versus Real Madrid, here are his words:

Do you have regrets for the way you exited the Champions League?
I wouldn’t call them regrets, we expressed ourselves at an acceptable level and we worked hard. It’d be wrong to blame it on bad luck. However, we played with dignity in all of the matches.

Regrets for not bringing in Spalletti sooner?
Spalletti arrived when he needed to arrive, but I do not think that Roma would’ve won the Scudetto. We could’ve been more competitive. Spalletti has made extraordinary results, but Garcia has 155 points in two years, it was only right to protect him until the end.
