Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini spoke today at the Festival delle Letterature in Lingua Spagnola in Perugia and spoke to media members there, here are his words via Il Tempo:
Are there open negotiations with Chelsea for Nainggolan?
I don’t think Radja will leave.
The same can be asked of Pjanic?
Perhaps neither him (will leave), it depends if I can make a move for a spotted tailed cat.
Are you optimistic or pessimistic about Roma’s financial situation?
Ask me another question.
Totti’s renewal?
He has decided to invalidate any sort of talk with his performances. He deserves a contract. I was against it because when a champions starts to slow down, it’s better to be a young executive than an old player, and starting to prepare for another season can be difficult. Then Spalletti has stimulated him and he’s been supernatural in the last few matches.
The future of Dzeko?
He wants to stay. Assuming that he doesn’t ask to leave, he remains a resource for Roma. Even at City and Wolfsburg he had issues in his first season: considering he’s been seen as an outcast, he has still managed 10 goals.
Problems Rudiger?
No, we will definitely redeem him.
Digne?
Right now we do not have an agreement with PSG, but I would like to keep him.
Can you renew the loan of Szczesny?
It depends if Arsenal would be willing to stoop to the level of us mere mortals.
Meanwhile Alisson arrives.
We are happy to welcome him and certainly he will not go on loan. He is the goalkeeper of the Brazilian national team, so if Szczesny remains at Arsenal he will take his place.
Many return in June from loan.
Iturbe will remain in Rome for sure, I don’t think there are problems with Ljajic, not even with his agent. There is a sort of promise between us, we will see if it will be respected. Doumbia is a more complicated situation, because Seydou decided to take a hard road: I think the Premier League is a league that suits his features. Does Leceister want him? I have not received anything.
And Paredes?
He will join us when the season ends, then the manager will decide.
El Shaarawy?
Against Genoa he played a perfect match, I’m not worried about his future at Roma: €13 million for the redemption seems like a right price.
Diawara?
He is very good.
Caceres is done?
It’s a possibility, like others, but it is not a closed deal.
