Current Bologna and former Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini was interviewed in today’s edition of La Repubblica and was asked about the rumors linking Francesco Totti with a return to Roma.
The Giallorossi’s former captain and executive left the club last summer after a falling out with former president James Pallotta, who recently sold the club to fellow American, Dan Friedkin, and he is now being tipped with a return to the club under the new ownership group.
“Totti back to Roma? It’s a slippery topic,” said Sabatini.
“It makes no sense to bring Totti as some sort of ‘extra’ piece. He needs to be given an important role and get down to business — otherwise it’s better for him to keep doing what he’s doing”.
Since leaving Roma, Totti has opened a football agency and works alongside former teammates Vincent Candela and Aldair.
