Salernitana boss Davide Nicola previews Roma clash amid injury woes

Andy Mattioli

Salernitana manager took the floor and addressed the media earlier today ahead of Sunday’s season opener with Roma. Nicola discussed the status of his team which is now dealing with several injuries at once.

“We are not 100%, but we will work hard day after day to perform and prove we are a solid bunch. We want people to feel represented on the pitch in the best possible way, it’s a fundamental concept that I constantly repeat to my players.”

“It was a very busy week for my staff and I. We did additional tests to assess the general condition and I must say that the newcomers are doing well.”

“Candreva adds a lot of experience, he knows our game plan and knows how to integrate quickly. He has the right spirit, a lot of enthusiasm and it is evident he wanted to come to Salerno.”

“Tomorrow I want to see immediately a team aware of its limits but eager to give their best. Last year, in Rome, we showed quality, character and intensity. It would be nice to repeat that performance. Obviously with a different result.”
