Salernitana manager Paulo Sousa spoke about Mourinho’s recent achievement of leading Roma to their second consecutive European final.
Only days away from Roma-Salernitana, Sousa discussed the Giallorossi’s profile as their next opponent.
“I want pay my compliments to Mourinho. He’s always been an added value for Portuguese coaches and is now an example for us all.”
“He has won all European competitions, he is unique in the world from this point of view. And I am convinced that he will continue to win. He has a tremendous desire to reach the goal, he is super prepared, he knows how to adapt and has shaped Roma in his image and likeness.”
“I respect him, if you make a difference in all of Europe’s top leagues, it means you’re good. There is nothing more to add,” said Sousa.
“And it’s not true that Roma don’t have an attacking gameplan. Far from it. Defending very well and counter-attacking is a rare quality, thanks to their fans they can press hard and put anyone in difficulty.”
“We will try to exploit the space available, we want to create problems for the team that stopped Leverkusen without conceding a goal for 180 minutes. Roma’s idea is clear. They don’t rely so much on ball possession and control, but alternate speed and pace to get out on the wings as quickly as possible, leaving those in the middle unmarked. They are strong on crosses and set-pieces in general. They move well after winning the ball back in midfield.”
