Salernitana, Roma’s next league opponent, are working to sign veteran free agent defender Jerome Boateng before Monday’s fixture.

According to Sky Sport, the former Manchester City and Bayern Munich defender is steps away from joining the Salerno-based side on a short-term deal until the end of the season. The 35 year-old has been available since last summer after he departed Lyon upon the expiration of his contract. The move is expected to become official once Salernitana finalise the sale of Matteo Lovato to Torino.

They’re also in discussions to potentially offload one of their top attackers, Boulaye Dia. The Frenchman, who was Salernitana’s leading goalscorer in 2022/23, has drawn interest from Fiorentina and Spartak Moscow.
