Salernitana target Santon

Davide Santon is one of the names excluded from Mourinho’s preseason list. The fullback is looking to leave the club this summer, and newly promoted Salernitana have emerged as a potential suitor.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, Salernitana are pushing to sign Santon. The feasibility of the operation is based on the player’s contract set to expire next year. The only way of bringing in the Italian fullback at this point would be on a permanent deal. Roma’s demands, however, would also lower because of this.

The one obstacle for Salernitana is Santon’s salary: €1.5 million per season. The Italian fullback may, however, be persuaded to lower his wages in order to gain consistent playing time away from the Italian capital.

Last season Davide Santon totaled only 10 appearances in Serie A. This may be his chance to prove himself elsewhere.
