Recently appointed Sampdoria manager Dejan Stankovic – who used to play for Jose Mourinho’s treble-winning Inter squad – previewed a reunion with Mourinho in the upcoming clash with Roma at the Ferraris stadium in Genova on Monday.
“I spoke to him on FaceTime. I have great respect for who he is as a person and as a coach,” Stankovic said earlier today.
“During the match we all go our own separate ways, then once the game is finished we’ll be friends as before. I learned a lot from him, on and off the pitch. He is a strong-minded individual. We made a beautiful journey together.”
“I don’t want to talk about others but every coach has given me something. But because we are playing against Roma it is right to talk about José. For ninety minutes let’s put everything in parentheses.”
“In those two years we worked together everything changed for me. I always gave 100% but he pulled out the extra 20% I didn’t think I had in me.”
