Marcos Leonardo is being linked with a January move to Roma.

After talks for his arrival in the summer broke down in July, Roma are looking to sign Leonardo in the next transfer window on a lower fee than initially demanded by Santos.

Santos director Alexandre Gallo recently confirmed the player’s intention to leave in January and opened the doors to his exit once Santos secure their fight against relegation.

“Marcos Leonardo understood the delicate moment and agreed to wait,” Gallo told reporters during a press conference. “We have increased his salary and changed his contract so that he will be able to leave in the next transfer window, as long as the offer is deemed interesting by Santos. I thank the player and his entourage for their understanding in this difficult moment.”
