Sardar Azmoun remains humble after scoring first Roma goal

Andy Mattioli

Iranian attacker Sardar Azmoun helped lead Roma to a last minute comeback win, scoring a precious equalizer versus Lecce at the 90th minute.

In his post-match interview with Roma TV, Azmoun reiterated his spirit of self-sacrifice, highlighting his availability at all times for the team he joined this past summer on loan from Bayer Leverkusen.

“We knew it would be tough tonight, we were all focused on winning this match. We showed our character and all the players and fans deserved to win this match.”

“This is the kind of work I had to do for the good of the team, whether I come off the bench or start. I have to do my job, I thank God and my teammates for letting me score my first goal.”

“It was fantastic, I’m really happy. Tonight was an unforgettable evening, I can’t properly explain what I feel. I hope and want to do it again.”
