Sassuolo sporting director Giovanni Carnevali discussed the Neroverdi’s rapport with Roma and their past dealings including a failed transfer for Davide Frattesi ahead this weekend’s clash between the two sides.
“Roma is one of the strongest teams in the league, and is used to playing midweek games,” Carnevali told Corriere dello Sport.
“They will not be affected by this busy schedule. I don’t think it’s an extra chance for us, but I’m convinced that if we do what we’ve shown lately we could create problems for Roma.”
“Frattesi? I believe that Sassuolo should be seen as a springboard to land in a great club, he has everything to make this qualitative leap.”
“We need to find an agreement that suits all three parties, including the player. We will find the best solution, beyond the economic negotiation we will try to please the player.”
“We took him as a kid from Roma, a club with which we have a very good relationship. Last summer we had talked to them, but it’s not true that we were close to an agreement.”
“Roma have many young players that interest us. However, I don’t know if Roma are still interested. In June we will evaluate, I am convinced that there will be no shortage of requests.”
