Sassuolo executive Giovanni Carnevali responded to the recent rumors linking him with the CEO vacancy at Roma.

Over recent months, the capital club have been working on securing a new club executive to take Lina Souloukou’s place.

The narrowed search is rumored to include the likes of Giovanni Carnevali, long-time CEO of Sassuolo.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Carnevali revealed his delight with the rumors.

“I have read and heard certain rumors and of course I am happy for any interest,” he said.

“But I am not used to thinking about things that do not exist,” he added. “If I were ever to be contacted by Roma, I would think about it.”

“You know that for me Sassuolo is a great club. And above all it has a great ownership,” he continued.

“Anyone has the ambition to be part of one of the most important clubs in Italy. But for me it doesn’t matter where you work, but how. That is, the way in which the ownership understands your role and lets you carry it out.”
