Sassuolo reluctant to sell Frattesi in January

Sassuolo's Davide Frattesi

RomaPress – Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi has been one of the breakout players in Serie A this season, tallying 4 goals and 1 assist in eighteen appearances.

His strong performances have caught the attention of several big Italian clubs, including Roma, Inter, and Milan—leading to heightened transfer speculation.

The former Roma youth product left the Italian capital in 2017 after being inserted into the deal involving striker Gregoire Defrel, who spent only one season with the Giallorossi before returning to Sassuolo in 2020.

Roma are very interested in reuniting with Frattesi and already opened discussions with his agent, Giuseppe Riso.

The club has a very strong relationship with Riso, who also represents Bryan Cristante and Gianluca Mancini, and they’re keen to take advantage of this connection.

The capital club also possess a 30% sell-on clause (which reduces to 15% after 30 June) and this could help them in their pursuit of the player. Though, any transfer to Roma wouldn’t happen at least until the summer.

Despite the bevy of interest, the Neroverdi have no intention of selling the midfielder next month when the transfer market reopens. Manager Alessio Dionisi requested that the club keep hold of Frattesi at least until the summer given his side’s pursuit of finishing in a European place.
