Il Corriere dello Sport: All on Defrel. Roma insists on the attacker of Sassuolo, who Neroverdi president Squinzi said was non-transferable, at least for January.
The two clubs will be updated in the coming hours, probably today, on the situation and also Sassuolo will have to give an answer to the player, who asked the club not to deprive him of the opportunity that Roma is offering. Defrel pushing for this solution, yesterday he came off the bench in the match between Sassuolo and Pescara: he remains the first goal of the Giallorossi in this transfer market window and now seems determined to leave the Emilian club. His agent, Pocetta, will receive the situation today with Angelozzi, sporting director of the club. The agent’s goal is to try to break the deadlock; the sporting director Angelozzi would be willing to negotiate, while Gio Carnevali, the right hand man of Squinzi, yesterday reiterated that “Sassuolo does not want to sell Defrel.”
Roma, who does not have much disposable income to invest in this window, could address the negotiation by sacrificing other youngsters. Some are already at Sassuolo, such as Ricci, who the Emilian club wants to keep. Pellegrini is nit involved in the negotiations for Defrel since Roma plan on repurchasing him. It’s possible Pellegrini could become a piece for the transfer market next summer, though. But there are also other youngsters who Sassuolo like such as Tumminello and Marchizza, pillars of Primavera and Moustapha Seck. Roma are willing to wait until the bitter end for Defrel, who will cost well over €15 million.
