Sassuolo executive Giovanni Carnevali has come forward and put an end to the persisting rumors linking Davide Frattesi with Roma as the Neroverdi have decided to halt all negotiations for the midfielder, taking him off the transfer list for this year.
Roma were in interested in the ex-Primavera player, but Sassuolo’s demands were deemed too high, which motivated the Giallorossi to pursue Gini Wijnaldum instead.
Carnevali clarified the situation in an interview with DAZN minutes before Sassuolo’s encounter with Milan.
“It wasn’t easy to keep Frattesi,” he said. “But we don’t want to tear our team apart after the departures of Raspadori and Scamacca.”
“After those two left the club, we just couldn’t let anyone else go,” added Carnevali. “We hope that these decisions will help bring concrete results.”
