Saudi Pro League’s Chief Operating Officer Carlo Nohra hasn’t shut the door for Roma manager Jose Mourinho to eventually secure a move to the Middle East in the future.
The Special One admitted he turned down an enormous offer this summer from the high-spending league, preferring to stay with the Giallorossi and see out the remaining season on his contract.
Even though their attempts to lure Mourinho failed, Nohra confessed he expects the Portuguese technician to arrive sooner rather than later.
“Speaking for myself and not Saudi Arabia, I’m personally waiting on him (Mourinho) to arrive,” Nohra told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“There’s no doubt the so-called ‘Ronaldo effect’ was incredible for us and it’s possible this won’t happen again because there aren’t many Cristiano Ronaldo’s around. It’s important we continue evolving the level of football within the league and clearly we’re keen to make another splash just like the one with Cristiano Ronaldo.”
He continued, “But someone like him is irreplicable. Nonetheless, I’m hopeful Mourinho will have an equally big impact just as I do for those who come after him.”
“I can’t say whether or not Mourinho will be our next big splash, but it’s obvious his possible arrival would represent another enormous leap in quality in several respects.”
