The future of Roma defender Chris Smalling remains unclear due to the player’s questionable status.
Over recent months, the Englishman failed to recover from a recurring knee inflammation and chronic tendonitis.
The initial timeline of recovery was soon dismissed by the veteran centreback who considers himself to not be in a position to play for the time being.
According to ForzaRoma.info, Smalling’s return to the pitch could be pushed to 2024 which would inevitably make his stay in the capital beyond January far from guaranteed.
The news portal claims, in fact, that Roma will likely consider offers for Smalling during that period of time as the Englishman is fresh off a new two-year-deal.
Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are said to be very interested after making preliminary inquiries in the summer. Smalling, on the other hand, could consider the most tempting proposals.
