Roma are eyeing multiple options to strengthen Mourinho’s midfield in the coming weeks as the transfer window concludes its opening week.
According to Il Messaggero, besides Houssem Aouar and Davide Frattesi, the Giallorossi are still very much interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Saúl Ñíguez.
Ñíguez is coming off an unsuccessful loan spell at Chelsea and is pushing for a move away from the Spanish capital.
His price-tag is estimated at around €20 million despite the fact that the 27-year-old’s contract with Atletico expires in 2023.
However, the main obstacle for Roma is represented by the player’s exorbitant wages.
