Ex-Roma defender and executive Sebino Nela analyzed the Giallorossi’s chances of continuing to build on momentum to compete for Top 4.
Nela gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The former Roma full-back spoke about current affairs for the Giallorossi: from the possible comeback for the Champions League zone, to injuries and Mourinho’s future.
“Roma has many qualities, especially in attack, which allow them to regain the pace they need to aim for a top four finish. Of course, let’s see how long Dybala will be out, but the fact that Lukaku and Belotti are performing well together has surprised me. And if the Belgian continues to score a goal per game, the problems will be solved,” said Nela.
“A lot depends also on the absence of Smalling. If the English defender were to no longer provide the guarantees that were expected of him, it could be a problem, also because Cristante – despite having adapted very well – is not a regular central defender.”
“Mourinho’s future? I don’t think the rumors will affect the team’s morale. Footballers are professionals who know how to work as a team and, above all, each pursue their own goal. If Roma miss the finish line, it won’t depend on this.”
