Serie A are pondering the introduction of a new tool that would help avoid errors in critical match situations.
The Italian league, reports Corriere della Sera, plans to improve the communication between the match official, the VAR officials and the coaches of teams.
The newspaper claims that as a result Serie A will soon vote on an initiative to introduce the ‘challenge’ concept used in NBA, MLB and other American sports, where coaches can ask for the match official to review a situation or complicated episode using the VAR system.
Each manager would have a limited number of challenges at his disposal. The proposal, however, is still in the early stages of development.
