Shakhtar Donetsk boss Igor Jovićević spoke very highly with regards to Roma’s initiative to organize a friendly at the Olimpico and donating the collected funds to help those affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“We can only thank Roma,” Jovićević said in a post-match interview. “They proved once again that they are a great club.”
“This was a charity game, and a lot of money was raised to help Ukraine including the army, civilians, children, all those who need help.”
“I think this event is the most important right now. Seventy thousand people in the heart of Rome and all those funds were raised for charity. This is the way sport could help solve political situations.”
“I am very proud that Roma have given us the opportunity to play this match,” he concluded.
