Sheriff coach Roberto Bordin previewed his team’s encounter with Roma in the Europa League group stage later this year.
“I hope that our performances in Europe this year can showcase my team’s qualities and mine as well,” Bordin said in a recent interview with Corriere dello Sport.
“In the preliminaries we eliminated Bate Borisov, after having almost reached the Champions League round. Now we will try to put Roma up against the wall. I saw them play live in the Europa League final in Budapest, so maybe it was my destiny to meet them sooner or later.”
“Our objective in this Europa League group is to remain competitive in Europe, either in EL or Conference League. Roma are the clear favorites to win the group,” he added.
“Mourinho? I can’t help but admire him. He is one of the most successful coaches in the history of football. And he is the only one to have lifted all three European titles… I don’t know him personally, I hope to be able to talk to him in Tiraspol even if I know that he is disqualified and he won’t be able to be on the bench.”
“Before the match I will make sure to tell my team to make the best of this opportunity. The whole world will be watching us. We must return home without any regrets.”
