Shevchenko: “I have a lot of respect for Mourinho.”

Earlier today Andriy Shevchenko was presented as Genoa’s new coach following Ballardini’s sacking.

His first game in charge of the club from the Liguria region will be against Roma after the international break.

When asked what he thinks of Mourinho and facing him for the first time as a coach, Shevchenko answered:

“I have a lot of respect for Jose Mourinho. His return to Serie A has been great for Italian football.”

He concluded:

“I know we have to face him first, but there is so much respect I have toward him. We’re selecting the right formation and line-up to be ready for Roma.”
