Eldor Shomurodov, currently away on international duty with the Uzbekistan national team, gave an interview to championat.asia where he discussed his transfer to Roma and his first instances of being coached by Mourinho himself.
On his transfer to the Italian capital:
“It all happened in a week. Jose Mourinho spoke first with my agent and then with me. I couldn’t believe the deal was completed so fast.”
“There is no pressure in working with him. As a team, we all work for the common goal. The first meeting was exciting, now we are like a teacher and his student. He is a great psychologist, it is interesting to work with him. The workouts are really interesting.”
The difference between playing for Genoa and Roma:
“The difference is huge. Genoa fight to avoid relegation, Roma fight for the top of the table. From the organizational point of view, Roma are obviously a top club. Everything in the Giallorossi is organized differently.”
On Tammy Abraham potentially limiting his minutes for the Giallorossi:
“All players want to play, but on the other hand Roma are a great team. I always try to give my best, both when I enter off the bench and when I play as a starter. There will be many matches, everyone will have their chance.”
“At first it was a bit difficult to accept, but now everything is fine. I continue to work and I can also play with him. We haven’t been tried as a duo yet, but Mourinho knows that I can also play as a winger. I think he will try it later on.”
On Roma’s objective for the season:
“The primary objective is to reach Champions League football. Then we also want to win the Conference League.”
