Shomurodov unhappy with limited playing time at Roma

Roma attacker Eldor Shomurodov – who joined the club from Genoa in the summer of 2021 at Mourinho’s request (the player was initially expected to play alongside Edin Dzeko before the Bosnian striker decided to move to Inter) – did not sound too enthusiastic about his limited playing time in the capital.

The 26-year-old forward was interviewed by The Tashkent Times before today’s friendly engagement with the national team of Uzbekistan against Kyrgyzystan.

“I’m not satisfied with my time at Roma,” he said. “I want to play more.”

On his relationship with Mourinho, he said, “It’s good. Perhaps not like it used to be, but still alright.”

When asked whether he intends to leave the Giallorossi in the upcoming transfer window, Shomurodov replied briskly, “I have a contract with the club. If I play more, I’ll stay.”

He concluded, “But I am not intending to spend a lot of time on the bench.”
