Roma remain keen on Sporting Braga striker Simon Banza despite the insistent rumors linking the Giallorossi with Lille’s Jonathan David.
The Congolese striker had been linked with Roma for the first time in mid-May.
Back then, the player was said to have been monitored by Roma’s scouts throughout the season.
However, Roma’s interest in Banza lies in director Florent Ghisolfi’s familiarity with the 27-year-old.
The two collaborated during Ghisolfi’s spell at Lens – Banza was then sold to Sporting Braga for a total sum of €3 million.
Now, Leggo reports that Banza – who has been offered to Roma – is the capital club’s chief alternative to their number one target for this summer: Jonathan David.
Lille’s demands for David are quite elevated – over €30 million asking price despite David has only one year left on his contract.
As a result, the newspaper states that Roma are prepare to focus on Banza instead.
Sporting Braga want around €23 million for the striker who this year alone collected 23 goals and 4 assists in all competitions for the Portuguese side.
