Roma have just entered the race for free agent Raphael Varane.

The veteran defender has recently left Manchester United and is reportedly keen on exploring options in Serie A.

In recent days, Varane made contact with newly promoted Serie A side Como who were the first ones to express interest in him.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, Como are set to meet with Varane later today to discuss the project and the player’s role in it.

However, Di Marzio also adds that Roma have initiated contact with Varane as well.

Roma, in fact, is evaluating the opportunity of signing the ex-Real Madrid man and could take steps in the next few days.

The French defender will remain in Italy for a few days, and therefore important news is expected soon.
