Sky Sport: After yesterday’s defeat to Juve, the urgency in the house of Roma has heightened. Juve are on the run and Roma want to do their best to keep pace. Therefore, the team will be strengthened in January. The two priorities? A winger and a midfielder.
Sporting director Ricky Massara is already at work: planning, studying, and observing. He takes notes, and it’s even rumored on his list there are up to 40 names. He will talk with Luciano Spalletti in the coming days, before the break. They will pick the players that the new Giallorossi sporting director has focused on and will plan to try and take their mark for them in January in order to keep pace of Juventus. He will act on the priorities and needs, which is why – as mentioned – a midfielder and winger are the first on the list of Roma.
The ideas? Rincon for the midfielder and Bailey or Pato for the wing.
Roma really like Rincon of Genoa. The relationship with Genoa and Preziosi is strong as is the relationship with the player’s agent. Rincon is already in favor of the operation but Roma must first understand the asking price of Genoa, who are also losing Pavoletti to Napoli in January.
Massara also really likes Jesé Rodriguez of Paris Saint-Germain, but the French club won’t sell in January. There is also Leon Bailey, winger and class of ’97 player of Genk. However, he’s a non-EU player and cannot arrive in January. Roma are also following Ajax winger El Ghazi.
In the list of Massara is also Alexandre Pato of Villarreal. The player has made it clear he’d love to return to Italy but Roma must understand whether the conditions are there to really bring him back to Italy and let him leave Villarreal, the next opponent of Roma in the Europa League.
