Roma are closing in on the surprise signing of Boca Juniors defender Nicolas Valentini.

The 23-year-old is the latest name to be linked with a move to the Italian capital.

Roma have launched talks with the player’s entourage, reports Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport.

According to Di Marzio, talks are expected to intensify in the coming hours.

Valentini is a player that De Rossi really likes, who already met him during his time at Boca Juniors.

The contract of the class of the 23-year-old defender with the Argentine club will expire in December 2024 but the Giallorossi are trying to speed up his arrival.

Napoli and Como were also interested but now Roma are in pole position to secure Valentini’s signing.
