Sky Sport: Updates on Vermaelen, Ziyech

John Solano

Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed two updates regarding the market of Roma.

Reportedly, Roma have nearly agreed to a contract with Barca defender Thomas Vermaelen. The Giallorossi have almost reached an agreement on the basis of a four-year contract worth up to €3 million (net per season) – or a three-year contract with an option for a fourth. The Belgian has given his full availability and willingness to move to Roma. Barcelona wants €2 million for the loan of the player with an obligation to buy for €12 million, while Roma is offering €2 million for the loan with an obligation to buy for €8 million. Should the sides meet in the middle, Spalletti could have the player at his disposal, however, missing from the operation is the final approval of James Pallotta, who isn’t entirely convinced by the 30 year old, although, he may give in because he understands Spalletti wants the player.

Meanwhile, Roma are close to finalizing a deal for Twente midfielder Hakim Ziyech. Roma have to sell one of Juan Iturbe, who Sabatini likes, or Federico Ricci, who Spalletti likes. Ziyech’s future also depends on whether or not a conclusion is reached for Thomas Vermaelen: if the defender arrives, Pallotta may have some doubts to invest money on a player that plays a position that is already well stocked for Luciano Spalletti.
