Smalling after Lecce win: “We did better in the second half, this is how we should play all the time”.

Roma defender Chris Smalling was interviewed by DAZN following the Giallorossi’s 1-0 victory over Lecce. These are his words:

Lecce was strong and dangerous in the first half but in the second half, Roma was much better.
We were too slow in the first part of the game, but in the second half there were open spaces and we were placed better throughout the pitch. This is how we should play all the time.

Was it important to react after the defeat against Atalanta?
We have ambitious goals for this season, we can’t give away points like we did against Atalanta. Today’s were 3 important points.

Your second consecutive match as a starter, how do you feel in this Roma?
It is important to find an understanding with your teammates in this defence, it was important to keep the clean sheet today. This is how we should play all season.
