Roma defender Chris Smalling has missed 7 out 11 Serie A matches so far this season.
The English center-back’s only start was vs Empoli, where he got injured in the dying minutes of Roma’s 3-0 victory.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Smalling flew in to London yesterday evening where he is scheduled to undergo a series of consultations regarding his thigh injury.
Roma are reportedly aware of this situation and the decision was made alongside Dr. Manara, the club’s most trusted medical expert.
The timeline for a possible return is still unclear: at the beginning the club were thinking it could take up to three weeks for the Englishman to recover, but the expectations have gotten more pessimistic.
Smalling is looking potentially at one more month of being sidelined with the injury, with a return in early December.
