It hasn’t been an easy start to life at Roma for defender Chris Smalling. The Englishman suffered a small muscle tweak two days before last weekend’s league match against Sassuolo and was held out for precautionary reasons. Smalling has been training on his own this week and has yet to rejoin the group and partake in a full session. Paulo Fonseca released his list of call-ups this afternoon for the Giallorossi’s Europa League clash tomorrow in Rome against Istanbul Basaksehir and to no one’s surprise, the defender was not included. Corriere dello Sport reports that Smalling is also at the risk for this weekend’s encounter with Bologna, marking potentially three matches missed due to injury since arriving.
