Roma defender Chris Smalling is set to miss the next 2-3 matches for the Giallorossi. The Englishman suffered a muscle injury during Roma’s 2-1 loss to Napli this past weekend and forced to come off early in the match, as he was replaced by Federico Fazio.
Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo reports that Smalling be forced to miss the next 7-10 days of action as he recovers from the injury.
If Giallorossi boss Paulo Fonseca opts to continue with a three-man defence, Fazio is expected to, once again, fill in for Smalling. The 33 year-old Argentine has seen his role greatly reduced this season as he had made only 14 league appearances this season.
