Chris Smalling seems to have completed the final stage of his recovery and is now eyeing a return to the pitch.
Following an extensive absence of 5 months due to a chronic knee injury, Smalling is looking to earn his first call-up since September in the upcoming Serie A fixture with Inter Milan.
The defender has been recently involved in regular group training drills, hinting at an imminent return to full capacity and disposal for Daniele De Rossi who is expected to rely on him for the Europa League playoffs with Feyenoord, reports Il Tempo.
In De Rossi’s plan, Smalling would provide the necessary veteran presence at the back alongside Gianluca Mancini against Arne Slot’s men.
This Saturday, Smalling is set to feature on Roma’s bench; an important sign for the team’s busy schedule.
