Chris Smalling is getting closer to making his season debut with the Giallorossi.
The Englishman, who has been out injured for the past two weeks, returned to training with his teammates today and is a near certainty to be available for Thursday’s Europa League match against CSKA Sofia.
Smalling suffered a knee sprain not long after having completed his return to the Italian capital and has been forced to miss Roma’s previous three matches against Benevento, Young Boys, and yesterday’s draw against Milan.
Meanwhile, attacker Carles Pérez, who also missed yesterday’s match, did not take part in training today as he continues to suffer from tonsillitis. However, he is expected to return in the coming days.
