Chris Smalling’s return to AS Roma is nearing completion.
English outlet The Telegraph has reported that the 30 year-old central defender, who spent last season on loan with the Giallorossi, is closing in on a return to the Italian capital on a permanent deal.
Smalling is out of Manchester United’s pre-season training while he and his agents negotiate the terms of his departure to Serie A.
The Englishman has been the number one target this summer for the Italian capital side as manager Paulo Fonseca is once again keen to have him at his disposal for the upcoming season.
The deal is widely expected to be completed within the coming days.
