Roma defender Chris Smalling was lost for words when asked to described what happened during the Giallorossi’s embarrassing 3-0 loss this evening to Lazio.
It was one way traffic from start to finish as Simone Inzaghi’s side manhandled Roma throughout the affair, something that the Englishman admitted was “unexpected given how we’d been playing recently.”
”It’s tough to find the words to describe tonight, obviously there’s huge disappointment. We had been playing well coming into this,” he said to Roma TV.
Smalling refused to blame the loss on the two first-half errors that gifted Lazio a 2-0 advantage before the break.
“Mistakes happen, but that’s no excuse. There was a lot of time remaining in the match. They sat back so it became difficult for us.”
“Tonight is a huge shame because we would’ve gotten closer to the top of the table had we won. Now we have to move on and react in the next game.”
