Smalling still limited in training

After Gianluca Mancini announced yesterday that he tested positive for COVID-19, it now seems to be a certainty that Roma will also be without Chris Smalling on Monday against Milan.

The Giallorossi were hoping that the Englishman would be able to recover over the weekend from a sprained knee that he suffered in training last week, which kept him out of Thursday’s Europa League match against Young Boys and last weekend’s fixture against Benevento.

The defender, though, was once again limited in today’s training session and did not participate with the rest of his teammates — a clear signal that his availability for Monday’s affair is doubtful.

It’s unclear as to when Smalling will recover and if it will be in for Roma’s next Europa League group match on Thursday in Rome against CSKA Sofia.
