RomaPress – Chris Smalling has been sensational since his arrival in the Italian capital on a dry loan move in August. The Englishman has become an integral part of Paulo Fonseca’s starting eleven and is keen on remaining at Trigoria well beyond the expiration of his loan move in June.
A source has confirmed to RomaPress that the defender recently switched agents ahead of negotiations having commenced between the Giallorossi and Smalling’s parent club, Manchester United, for a permanent transfer. James Featherstone, who represented Smalling for a number of years, no longer represents the player, who has retained a new, Italian-based agent to handle his affairs.
The move can be seen as positive one given that Smalling has settled-in incredibly quickly in Italy and appears eager to make his Roma move a permanent one.
Editor’s note: A representative of Omni Sports, the agency of James Featherstone, reached out to RomaPress and insisted they still represent the Englishman.
