Smalling to intervene and ask United to find permanent deal with Roma

The saga involving Roma and Chris Smalling may not be completely over.

British tabloid the Daily Star has reported that the 30 year-old English defender will return to Manchester United this week and tell them he wants to leave Old Trafford for good. as he eyes a permanent stay in the Italian capital.

Smalling’s loan deal officially expires today and the two clubs have not been able to come to an agreement on a permanent transfer for the central defender despite being engaged in negotiations for several months.

The report states that “Smalling loved his time in the Italian capital and is keen to secure a permanent move to Roma”.

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has also reiterated that he is eager for Smalling to remain at the club.
