Smalling wants Roma stay, wages not an issue

Despite there being no action on the pitch, Roma continues to plan for the future.

Sky Sport has reported this afternoon that keeping Chris Smalling in the Italian capital beyond this summer is a priority for the Giallorossi. The Englishman emerged this season as one of the best defenders in the Serie A and has been one of the leaders of Roma.

Smalling has, reportedly, given positive signals to Roma that he wants to remain at the club beyond the expiration of his loan in June: in fact, his wage demands will not be an obstacle to a potential permanent deal.

The real question remains between the Giallorossi and Manchester United — to date, the two sides have not been able to find an agreement on a fee for Smalling.
