Smalling’s agent clarifies contract situation with Roma

Chris Smalling was rumoured to have reached a threshold which would have triggered an automatic contract extension for an additional season.

However, his agent – James Featherstone – dismissed the rumours and addressed the situation in an exchange with Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sport.

Featherstone said, “Roma have no option for another extension within the contract. His contract expires in June 2023.

In the exchange, Featherstone emphasized his client’s commitment to the Giallorossi and his “very positive” feelings regarding the city, the club and the fans.
