Smalling’s agent to meet with Roma

Andy Mattioli

Chris Smalling’s future remains uncertain as the defender nears free agency in June.

His agent – James Featherstone – reportedly landed in the Italian capital last night. He will spend the next few days at various meetings with General Manager Tiago Pinto with the objective of discussing the centreback’s contract with the Giallorossi, claims La Repubblica.

According to the Italian newspaper, Featherstone wants to propose a three-year deal, while Roma have only been able advance a two-year bid worth around €3 million per season for the time being.

Roma want Smalling to stay in light of interest from Inter and Premier League clubs.
