Caglar Soyuncu of Atletico Madrid is the favorite to strengthen Roma’s defense before the January transfer deadline.
The Turkish centre-back and his entourage have been in talks with Roma for the past few weeks as the player is in search of more playing time after being faced with limited minutes under Atletico boss Diego Simeone.
According to Il Tempo, conditions for Soyuncu’s signing are favorable as Roma would be looking to get him on loan, having only to pay his salary for the remainder of the season.
However, for Soyuncu to be able to join, Roma will first have to secure the exit of at least one player.
Renato Sanches is the main candidate to leave the team. Having arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, the French seem willing to end the Portuguese footballer’s experience in Rome early, with Besiktas awaiting further developments.
