Spalletti: “Paredes reminds me of Pizarro.”

John Solano

Roma manager Luciano Spalletti spoke today after the Giallorossi’s friendly against local club Boston Bolts, here are his words:

You want to keep Paredes?
There are players that I know more of and some less. With Mire having left, we have a problem on the free kicks. However, he (Paredes) looks a lot like Pizarro with the ball, he definitely has great quality. He is made precisely for that role and we need someone here, someone to control the ball and control the play.

Gerson played as a central midfielder: what is his role?
Yes, that’s what I think his role will be, the classic midfielder. Although, he loves to play close to the end lines.

Does Szczesny’s arrival change the goalkeeping hierarchy?
First of all, you’re stronger when you have good players, if they’re in the same role and interpret things correctly, there are no issues. The problem is the opponents’. The season is long: we need two strong goalkeepers.

How is Strootman?
Very well. The fact that he is participating in all the trainings is important. We saw all his qualities today.
