Roma manager Luciano Spalletti spoke on a number of topics today while holding a press conference during the team’s training camp in Pinzolo, here is an excerpt of his words:
Pjanic was unveiled today at Juve: is it difficult to close the gap with them when you lose a player of his quality?
I spoke to Mire the day before he left about the things that were being said in the newspapers. I don’t work at Juve so I can’t confirm about how this went. All I know is that I worked with a great player like him at Roma.
Juan Jesus?
Juan Jesus is a player of the highest quality and we are trying have a transfer market by looking for top-quality players. Of course, we must also assess the parameters and what the club can afford, however, we want top quality players to help fill our potential. We are working hard to bring players that are possible and those who fit the club’s parameters.
Will only Juan Jesus arrive or will Nacho arrive, too?
There are players being tracked by Walter, they are being monitored. We need a minimum of two defenders: a central and another who can go forward. Flexibility is essential, we must have it. For example: we will now have Juan Jesus available with Zukanovic but without Manolas we’ll have problems on the right side of central defence. A right footed player who can play on the left is needed. We have Rudiger and Gyomber but we need a defender who can play on the right as a central defender or fullback.
How is Dzeko? Will he be a starter?
Right now I can only evaluate a couple of things: his desire to do well and his desire to remain at Roma. I have tried to help him a lot. The key thing is that he has the intention of being part of Roma next season, if he keeps this intent, he will be Roma’s striker.
Totti?
If he helps get results for Roma then he will play.
