Spezia manager Leonardo Semplici urged his squad to give everything they have in their season finale this weekend against Roma.

The Ligurians currently sit 17th in the Serie A table but are level on 31 points with 18th-placed Hellas Verona, who face Milan on Sunday.

“We analysed everything that went wrong against Torino. We took an absolute beating and I told the lads I hope they’re still hurt from it because we need a huge reaction,” stated Semplici during his pre-match press conference.

“We’ll be facing a strong team in Roma but we’ll be forced to go there and earn a positive result given the situation we’re in.”

“Obviously this requires an incredible level of physical and mental concentration and energy. Once the match ends we must leave the pitch knowing we gave everything we had.”

He added, “Roma just lost a European final on Wednesday, undeservedly in my opinion, so it’s difficult to know what sort of opponent we’ll come up against.”

“What I do know is they’re a strong strong with lots of quality that can punish you on the counter-attack and set pieces.”

Finally, “We must have the motivation to want to redeem ourselves from the result against Torino. Our supporters backed us the whole match as they have all season.”

“They deserve to experience the satisfaction of achieving the objective we’ve been chasing for the entire campaign since it began: salvation.”
