Spezia manager Thiago Motta is looking to restore his side’s morale after two consecutive defeats against Fiorentina and Bologna. The former Inter player spoke to the media ahead of Spezia-Roma on Sunday evening.

“The important thing is to maintain the continuity of hard work shown in the last few games. You can see that in the opening moments to the Bologna match.”

“Now we’re about to face Roma, an important team, built to play on the European stage,” said Motta.

“We have a different objectives, we play at home and we will play this game with great focus. We will try to bring the three points home.”

When asked whether Spezia will try to play offensive football vs Mourinho’s side, Motta replied “We always try to create from open play. Sometimes we do well, sometimes less so because we have opponents with different characteristics.”

We have to pay attention to Rome. All of Mourinho’s teams are teams that know how to suffer together and then counter and if necessary, make a comeback.”

“They are dangerous on the counter, when they have to defend they do it well, even inside the area, and then they are good at restarting the play. We have to stay balanced and play sharp football, trying to minimize their counter-attacks.”
